  1. What do we wear?

    1. Think very carefully about what you’re going to wear, from your top down to your shoes. If you feel uncomfortable in an item of clothing – don’t wear it.
    2. For women:
      1. DO NOT WEAR a dress with print or patterns because this steals the viewers’ attention away from you and everyone else around you.
      2. WEAR simple or singly-colored dress so that viewer’s attention is focused on the people’s faces, not on the dress.
    3. For men:
      1. Wear blue jeans (denims) are good, and so are corduroy jeans. But when one is wearing blue jeans, all other men are wearing blue jeans too.
      2. Or, wear dark pants or even khakis. Go for dark ones because they are easy to match with any tops and, unlike lighter ones, they do not steal the viewer’s attention.
    4. To achieve blending, DO NOT HAVE perfectly matching outfits (e.g. everyone in maong and white shirts). Instead, choose anyone of the following:
      1. DO HAVE everyone wearing a mix of warm colors (reds, pinks, oranges, yellows). Warm colors are exciting to view.
      2. DO HAVE everyone wearing a mix of cool colors (blues, greens, violets, browns). Cools colors are relaxing to view.
      3. DO HAVE about half wearing warm while the other half wearing cool colors – such mix can be visually interesting.
      4. DO HAVE everyone wearing the same clothing style (that is, when one is wants to wear rugged, all others should wear rugged too.
    5. Do not wear anything clothes with any brand/company logo or large text.
    6. Wear accessories! Bowties, suspenders, caps, hats, flower headbands, chunky scarves, beautiful flowing dresses and skirts—these create visual interest and movement in the photos.
    7. Plan your outfits at least a week in advance so everyone is happy with what he/she is wearing.
  2. What To Do Before the Shoot?

    1. Do not do anything exhausting the day before – you will look tired in photos.
    2. Do not drink alcohol the night before – you will be dehydrated making your skin wrinkly and reddish and your eyes puffy.
    3. Drink lots of water – hydration will make your skin glow and look fabulous.
    4. Have a good night sleep.
    5. Have a good meal before going into the shoot.
    6. If you are not good with makeup, hire a makeup artist. Ask him to give each one of you a CFN – clean, fresh, natural look.
      1. Do not put on white facial powder/cream a few days before the shoot – you will end up looking like Casper in photos.
      2. If anyone will put on foundation, make sure its color matches facial skin.
      3. If anyone has dark circles or heavy age spots or blemishes, put on a concealer.
      4. Make sure your cheeks do not look like a pink lipstick has been rubbed on it.
      5. Bring you makeup kit with you – so you can do retouching.
    7. Bring items that will get your kids excited about – it may help the kid stay longer in the shoot.
    8. Do not schedule any activity after the shoot – you might not keep up with it because photoshoot may consume a lot of hours, especially when any kid starts throwing tantrums.
